At the Name of Jesus at ThirdChair

At the Name of Jesus at ThirdChair is a year-long arts initiative bringing visual art, music, and dance into conversation around the central hero of our faith: Jesus Christ. The project’s visual foundation, Dwelling in Grace and Truth is a portable immersive installation inspired by the Mishkan of Exodus and the incarnation described in John 1.

"Our goal is to inspire awe and wonder as we share the splendor of the Gospel through creative expression."

Timeline: 2027-2028

Phase 1: The Visual Foundation: Dwelling in Grace and Truth will include three large-scale panoramic paintings, illuminated sculptural entrance panels, and seven contemporary lanterns.  Handcrafted by a visual artist duo (Ben and Rebecca Faubion) the installation will provide a shared point of departure for additional artists involved with the project.

Phase 2: Interdisciplinary Artistic Exploration: a singer-songwriter and a dancer/choreographer will be invited to create original work in response to both Dwelling in Grace and Truth and the Creative Arts Collective theme, At the Name of Jesus.  Each artist will be free to interpret the shared themes through their artistic vision.

Phase 3: Community Engagement and Presentation: at least three of ThirdChair’s monthly Artist Gatherings will feature the resulting work. These gatherings will be thoughtfully curated to invite the community into meaningful encounters with the artists' expressions of faith, creativity, and worship.

Phase 4: Documentation and Storytelling: a videographer/photographer will document key stages of the creative process and public presentations, producing media to share the project's story with regional and national audiences.

Phase 5: Open to how God leads!   Dwelling in Grace and Truth is portable by design.  The project can be made available to new sites and include more creative collaborators.
